Proprietary high-technology Acoustic and Thermal sealing make Basso doors and windows the unmatched leader in this area amongst manufacturers of traditional timber windows.

Seals for doors consists of two parts - thin rubber / plastic strips all around the door and the style which are compressed when the door is closed, and an aluminium channel with an internal sliding riser fitted in a hidden slot at  the bottom of the door which seals the moving gap between the bottom of the door and the floor. Between them these two seals resist winds /rains blown against the door at up to 100 Kms. The doors can be supplied with or without this feature.

Basso windows have similar technically superior operating mechanisms and seals - as these photographs (the first two of a demonstration model) show.

Window bottom showing proprietary combined guide and seal

Window top showing roller guides - note the nylon brush seal

Window in unlatched mode for opening - handle down, nylon brush seal retracted

Window in latched mode to lock and seal - handle up, nylon brush seal extended on its metal bar mount

Where the louvered timber accordian-pleat shutters meet, the seal is ensured by a spring-loaded tongue

Attention to detail - note the drains in the sill plate to protect the timber from rainwater lodgement
