Basso crafts external and internal solid timber doors and windows - made from farmed Brazilian rainforest hardwoods dried and seasoned for at least two years before crafting to ensure structural stability in the products - in the most elegant contemporary and traditional designs and made to the most exacting standards of craftsmanship, all having standardized ratings of thermal and acoustic insulation.

All Basso products are crafted to better than 0.1 milimetre tolerance. All timbers for each piece are dried together to ensure consistency throughout their long lifetime, and timbers are personally colour-matched for each piece.

Cedrorana - not just beautiful and durable
- it's resistant to insects, birds, fungus & fire -
never reabsorbs moisture so it never warps

All the lumber used by Basso is officially certified to have been obtained from replanted forests (a kind of Green Certificate). Another official certificate assures that no disease, fungus etc will be transmitted with the product ( a fito-sanitario Certificate)

Although we can supply our products in a large variety of tropical hardwoods, we recommend CEDRORANA (Cedrelinga Catanaeformis Ducke) for its beauty of grain and colour, glorious finish, ease of working, dimensional stability and resistance to biological enemies. A native of the Amazon, it has been cultivated artificially for over fifteen years now with considerable success both for Greenhouse Gas (C02) sequestration and as a source of lumber for industry

Cedrorana is a very resistant hardwood, almost completely impervious to insects (and parrots), wet and dry rot,  boring beetles etc, and is  certain to last in place for thirty years and more even if never varnished. It's heavy and strong and burns very slowly (if at all), takes a beautiful glossy finish, and the fibers are so close and firm that screws in hinges and locks do not loosen with use over time.

CEDRORANA FAS - Quality boards from the managed plantations of BASSO’s supplier, kiln-dried to 7% RH and ready for the production line at the factory. BASSO holds a permanent stock of kiln-dried boards for at least three months planned production in it’s covered storage facility.
BASSO doors are made with mortice and tenon or dowels jointing, and all styles and panels are made from single pieces of lumber - not small pieces glued together. The handcrafted work is of old-fashioned quality and no loose joint or improper fitting gets by Basso's final quality inspectors. That's a guarantee!
