Shiatsu
is an age-old massage technique with both therapeutic and relaxing
effects. Shiatsu literally means ‘hand pressure’. Using
the pressure of palms, thumbs and elbows, applied to energy points
called meridians, Shiatsu technique stimulates the sympathetic and
parasympathetic nervous systems, invigorating and relaxing the muscular
system. The Shiatsu technique relieves tensions and muscular pains, improving the duration and quality of sleep, providing essential rest for the mind as well as for the physical body. Shiatsu acts in the area called Hara (the abdomen), inducing a pleasant sensation of wellbeing, and stimulating the functions of all of the body’s organs.

Besides
its therapeutic value, and the lingering effect of wellbeing, your
Shiatsu session provides yet another benefit of that ancient
technique that is very important in modern times.
We live in a world of rush and hustle and bustle, always on the move, one eye constantly on the clock, trying to get the most done in the shortest possible time. Some of us spend most of our days seated on badly designed chairs, in positions that are bad for both posture and body function, leading to stress, muscular aches and pains, tension headaches and/or stiffness of the joints, circulatory problems and muscular atrophy. Our
sedentary lifestyle is also characterized by fatigue, overeating and
undereating over periods of time – eating ‘not wisely
but too well', as Shakespeare puts it, and living a lifestyle based
on unnatural values. The end result of such
lifestyle is a deterioration of the body and of the spiritual essence
that is the source of our energy. Shiatsu really helps those suffering
from fatigue, they feel their energy levels increase from session
to session. And these improvements also provide benefits for the
pulmonary (breathing) and circulatory functions.
So take some free advice – walk instead of driving when possible, use the stairs instead of the elevator; drink lots of water (not always mixed with malt and hops!); eat always in moderation, and good food - not Mc-junk; speak calmly and with consideration; read good books, listen to good music, and most of all – enjoy the blessing of laughter, and the company of good friends. Live well, because your life is a divine gift – and you only have one, so take care of it! For
your stress problems Zen-Shiatsu therapy is an excellent option, because
it seeks to return your system to the path of spiritual and physical
serenity that is so difficult to maintain in our modern world. Slow
down, live well and in serenity ...
take some time to smell the roses that flourish so abundantly but
often unnoticed by the side of your life’s roadway …
