Who we are |
| Well, I guess you want to know a little about us before you entrust yourself to our gentle care and ministrations on a 200 kilometer trek through some of the most rugged terrain in Australia's wilderness - the land of lofty waterfalls and of the gorges and all that mullarkey. |

First up - we're a new mob. We formed up as a team in 1999 to service a clear tourism market need in this staggeringly beautiful part of the world. Each member of our team combines horse knowledge (and / or sense!) with bush experience; all tour leaders can teach bush skills to trekkers. We all know our jobs, the bush - and first aid! |
| Our Waterfall Gorges Adventure
Holidays business was established by Hugh
O'Connor as a co-operative - all those who work with us are offered
to join the company as shareholders after a qualifying period. Hugh lives
on his property Swim-Two-Birds
deep in the bush year-round and operates his various entrepreneurial endeavours
from remote locations through the internet.
Eclectic, versatile, creative, articulate, erudite, handsome, witty, gracious, very sexy and generous to a fault - I could go on forever about myself - oh! - ah! - I meant 'him'. |

The first person to join up as a Tour Leader was
Wanda Haffit, who at 15 years of age had won the prestigous Best Rider
award during the annual rodeo and quarterhorse trials at Swim-Two-Birds
against the competition of many older, more experienced riders. Wanda
has great skill in handling her mounts and a remarkable talent for getting
the best performance and endurance out of them.
Many trekkers have been delighted with the results of putting themselves in Wanda's skillful hands. When Wanda is not guiding trekkers into her magnificent gorges she teaches riding and bushcraft. A published novelist and scriptwriter of a successful TV mini-series, she is at present the youngest PhD candidate at the University of New England in her chosen field - the mathematical descriptors of subparticulate nuclear physics. Wanda lives at Swim-Two-Birds. |
| Sally McKee from Virginia, USA, is the group's
Education Officer. Sally is qualified in many areas of education and her
thesis work is on elements of Special Education. She first visited the
Armidale district on a research trip in 1999 and fell in love with what
she found here.
Sally's special duties involve preparation and delivery of educational modules that make up courses on bushcraft, local native wildlife, Aboriginal studies, zoology, botany and biology; these modules form the core of the Educational Packages which we offer to schools and other groups. Her continuing studies oblige her to spend a considerable part of the year in the US, where she is in her final year at the prestigous Longwood College in central Virginia. When Sally is in Australia she lives at Swim-Two-Birds. She hopes to become an Australian citizen. |
